Break Tha Cycle is a Youth and Community-Led Charity Established in 2015 that was set up in response to the high increase of 'serious youth violence' and other issues that affect the wider community. The charity is run by a Trustee board made up of local people, skilled practitioners and young people.
Break Tha Cycle supports disadvantaged children, young people, their families and the wider community in the London borough of Waltham Forest and surrounding areas, promoting positive engagement and resilience with all user groups especially those who are disproportionately disadvantaged through social exclusion or who have had a challenging and difficult start in life.
Our main work centres on the disproportionality and disadvantage that young people and families from global majority backgrounds and ethnicities face, providing access to services that they may not otherwise have access to. We work with many young people who have Special educational needs and disabilities including young people who are on the periphery of coming into contact with the criminal justice system and or are already part of that system and suffer racial and adultification bias.
We are passionate about working in conjunction with our user groups towards generating positive futures. Our purpose is to assist, our children, young people and their families to re-connect with mainstream society and realise their full potential by offering mechanisms for positive change, challenging stereotypes and reinforcing good role models.
