Lucy's Bio

My name is Lucy Sande. I am a home educating mother of three, qualified English teacher and First-Class law graduate.

I recently completed a management role for an outdoor nursery where I was the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). I feel confident in my ability to recognise signs of potential abuse, act quickly and appropriately in response and communicate effectively with the relevant authorities. Excellent safeguarding policies and procedures are an essential part of keeping children safe from adults and other children who might pose a risk.

I have experience in leading Inset days and staff training in safeguarding. In 2023, I completed training in Advanced Safeguarding and have received regular safeguarding training since beginning my career in education in 2013. My passion and purpose to protect children and vulnerable people, together with my experience and skills, makes me great for the role of DSL at Break Tha Cycle.

When I volunteered for Break Tha Cycle in 2019/2020, I immediately recognised the organisation’s passion and commitment to elevating the communities it serves. The variety of programmes on offer and willingness to plan creative initiatives in response to what is observed and heard amongst their participants, makes Break Tha Cycle a special organisation.

I am passionate about protecting and empowering those who experience disempowerment, particularly children and families.
